Another new addition. A very nice Staffordshire Toby in good condition. He has an unusual green coat which is very attractive and the artwork on his jug is just about the finest I have seen. He stands the full height and I would date him about 1830. His ticket price is only £450.00. SOLD SOLD

Illustrated here is a superb example of an Ordinary complete with original Crown dated about 1810. He has hollow legs and holds his original pipe. His jug of frothing ale is well decorated and he shows several well defined pox marks on his face. He has rich colours and his striped waistcoat contrasts well with his rich coat. His yellow trousers are an added attraction. I am offering him at £495 including UK postage. PLEASE LOOK AT ALL 8 PAGES - I ALSO HAVE A STOCK OF AROUND 200+ TOBIES RANGING FROM £40 - £2000. SOLD SOLD
A SELECTION OF TOBY JUGS IS NOW AVAILABLE AT THE MOSS END ANTIQUES CENTRE, MOSS END GARDEN VILLAGE, WARFIELD, Nr. BRACKNELL, BERKSHIRE. PRICES WILL NORMALLY RANGE FROM UNDER £50 TO HIGHER PRICED EXAMPLES WHICH YOU MAY WISH TO CONSIDER FOR INVESTMENT. Open seven days a week, 10.00 am - 5.00 pm.
STOCK IS CHANGING ALL THE TIME - THERE IS ALWAYS A SELECTION SIMILAR TO THESE, AND OF COURSE MUCH EARLIER JUGS DATING FROM 1780. JUST LET ME KNOW YOUR INTERESTS, I WILL DO THE REST
A nice addition to my site. This most attractive Staffordshire jug dates from about 1830. He wears a magnificent green coat and is holding a very attractive jug of ale, which is beautifully decorated. His face is well defined and his yellow trousers and brown shoes contrast well with his coat. His overall condition is very good and he shows virtually no signs of wear and tear. His ticket price is £625.00
I BELIEVE I HAVE THE LARGEST SELECTION OF ORDINARIES AVAILABLE IN THE UK. TOO MANY TO PUT ON THIS SITE. PLEASE E MAIL ME WITH ANY REQUESTS AND I WILL BE PLEASED TO DEAL WITH THEM PERSONALLY.
Illustrated here are just a few of the very early Tobys. Most of these date from 1785 - 1810. They are becoming increasingly scarce and valuable, some of them are the only examples I have seen. If you visit the Victoria and Albert Museum in London you will see about 6 Tobies similar to those in this cabinet. Auction prices are rising rapidly, the renewed interest in Tobys is undoubtedly making them a sure investment. The rising sales of my book has given these 200 year old antiques a new place in the Antique world. Why buy modern 'ornaments' when you can have the real thing for probably not much more. What a talking point, an 1850 Snuff Taker or a Cross legged Jolly Miller, both only costing around £150 each, would be at your next dinner party. When you are holding your first Toby, just think, where has he been for the last 150-200 years? I guarantee you will be hooked.
Since publishing my book, interest in Victorian and earlier jugs has been enormous. I am receiving favourable comments and many pictures daily. From as far away as Australia, USA and Hong Kong. Two readers have sent me pictures of their collections and I have been pleased to identify two rare jugs for them. Have you got any early Tobys that you are wondering about? Let me see them, there's no charge. You may be pleasantly surprised.
YOU MAY HAVE A VALUABLE JUG IN YOUR COLLECTION - E MAIL ME AND FIND OUT - THERE'S NO CHARGE - YOU MAY WANT TO SELL
Recently arrived. This excellent example of a Prattware Ordinary showing the unusual and rare Peacock pattern. He is in excellent condition and must date from around 1795 -1800. Rarely does a fine Prattware like this appear showing fine definitive features. He is well moulded and will enhance any collection and also provide a good basis for future investment. His ticket price is £795. SOLD SOLD
I currently have a selection of over 250 Toby's for sale, some of this selection is available on this site, if you e mail with your interests I may be able to help you at rearl14@aol.com with your requirements, if you add your telephone number I will be pleased to discuss them with you, and possibly send you a picture(s) of Jugs which you may be interested in.
'The Toby Jug' recently published, is fully illustrated throughout in full colour. It will add another dimension to your appreciation of Toby Jugs. Who made them? How old are they? What are they worth? The difference between Portobello, Yorkshire, Creamware, Pearlware. Can you spot a fake? This is the only book currently in print which is entirely devoted to Toby Jugs. It can be purchased for just £13.50 including post and packing, from Ron Earl, 9 Jubilee Avenue, North Ascot, Berks SL5 8NZ. It will be sent by return. This book has been favourably reviewed as far away as Australia and New Zealand and has had several mentions in Ceramics Today the well known authoritative Journal. It has been featured in several English monthlies. See update details on page 2.
I am also interested in buying Toby Jugs, if you care to e mail me or send a picture of any Jug you wish to sell, I am sure we could agree on a suitable price. I am prepared to travel if you feel it is necessary for me to see your Jug(s). I also give illustrated talks on Tobys and free valuations, why not give me a ring for details. Who made your Jug?, what were they paid?, where has it been? How long has he been in your family?
